Lead Parenting Educator

DEPARTMENT: Counseling and Support Services

POSITION STATUS: Full-time, non-exempt 

REPORTS TO: Director of Counseling and Support Service

The Lead Parenting Educator oversees Alliance for Community Empowerment parenting programming. This position plans, coordinates, and implements school-based and community-based parenting education to advance the mission of Alliance for Community Empowerment.. This position supervises Parenting Educators and babysitters who assist in facilitating parenting groups and classes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the recruitment, screening, and enrollment of participants in parenting programming
  • Conduct assessments and placements of participants 
  • Assess participants’ strengths and needs to best support their success in the program and refer them to resources in the community
  • Communicate with DCFS case managers to best support participant needs
  • Develop and maintain relationships with DCFS and related agencies for participant recruitment
  • Coordinate, plan and implement parenting groups, serving as the primary facilitator for parenting groups and classes
  • Coordinate agency-provided child care for parenting groups
  • Coordinate and implement strategic marketing and create related promotional materials
  • Internal audits of files for enrollment/attendance/service delivery documentation
  • Other clerical duties as needed
  • Other related duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a current California Driver’s License with a clean DMV record and adequate auto insurance.  Must submit to a Department of Justice Criminal background check and have a clean record.

  • Master’s Degree in child development, social work, psychology, sociology, or a related field
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required
  • Knowledge of challenges specific to, and support systems for, underserved communities
  • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills with diverse groups of youth and adults
  • Meticulous verbal, written and, oral communication skills
  • Extremely organized, reliable, and responsible
  • Self-starter and collaborator
  • Computer literate – working knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite and basic graphic design
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Capacity to adapt to shifting priorities
  • At least 2 years of experience in group/classroom facilitation
  • Experience in team management/supervision
