This summer, participants from RUTH YouthBuild stepped out of the classroom and got their hands on real solar equipment as part of the Summer Solar program. After weeks of solar theory and technical instruction, students at the Pierce College campus were finally ready to put their knowledge into practice.
Working side-by-side in bright orange "Summer Solar" uniforms, participants used drills, mounting tools, and wiring components to complete their very first simulated solar panel installations. The training walked them through the entire process—from raw parts to finished builds.
“This is the start of the process to the final result of a solar panel install,” said one ACE staff member. They’re not just learning—they’re doing.
Hands-on moments like this are at the heart of ACE's approach to workforce development. The RUTH YouthBuild program doesn’t just offer education—it gives participants the tools, confidence, and paid opportunities to explore growing green industries.
When young people get access to hands-on training in sustainable careers, they gain more than skills—they gain direction.
If you or someone you know is between the ages of 16 and 24 and looking to earn their diploma while training for careers in clean energy and beyond, RUTH YouthBuild may be the perfect next step.
✅ Get paid to learn.
